Worked example (made-up numbers)
One driveway, one push, every cost on its own line
This is the example file you get, so you see a finished quote before you type your own numbers. A 2,400 sq ft driveway with 300 sq ft of walks, 4 inches of snow, a pickup with an 8 ft plow, a two-stage blower for the walks, 8 minutes of travel, de-icer spread, customer pays by card.
| Per push | Amount |
|---|---|
| Equipment | $9.07 |
| Fuel | $1.79 |
| De-icer (21.6 lb) | $9.50 |
| Labor (0.64 job hours) | $19.26 |
| Overhead | $6.00 |
| Total cost per push | $45.62 |
| Price floor at the target margin | $73.95 |
| Suggested price per push | $75.00 |
| Card fee | $2.48 |
| Profit per push | $26.90 |
$71.90 per labor hourThat's what the example push pays you after equipment, fuel, de-icer, overhead and the card fee. Compare it with what you pay yourself and your helpers. If a price you type falls below the floor, the sheet flags it in red.
How the price is worked out
- Hours = area ÷ your clearing rate × the depth multiplier, plus walks, setup and travel
- Cost = equipment + fuel + de-icer + labor + overhead
- Price floor = (cost + card fixed fee) ÷ (1 − card fee % − target margin)
- Suggested price = the floor rounded up to your step, never below your minimum charge
Seasonal contract or per push?
The contract that looks fine in a normal winter can lose money in a heavy one
Same example driveway, a $925 seasonal contract (the sheet's suggested price for a 12-event season). You type how many snow events a low, normal and high season brings for you; the file makes no weather forecast.
| Season | Events | Per-push profit | Contract profit | Better |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low | 6 | $136.41 | $598.24 | Contract |
| Normal | 12 | $297.83 | $324.50 | Contract |
| High | 20 | $513.05 | −$40.48 | Per push |
Made-up example. Both options earn the same at about 12.4 events. Above that, per push earns more unless you cap the events the contract covers (the sheet lets you).

Is it a fit?
Made for
- Solo plow and shovel operators
- Small crews (2 to 4 people) running driveways and small lots
- Landscapers adding snow work who want a price that covers fuel, de-icer and the drive
- Anyone deciding between seasonal contracts and per-push billing
Not made for
- Large contractors already running route software with job costing
- Homeowners checking what plowing should cost
- Roof snow removal or snow hauling as separate services
- Contracts: the printable quote is not a contract; put seasonal terms in your own written agreement
How the math is checked
Every formula tested against a separate model
Before release, a test script rebuilt every result outside the spreadsheet and compared it cell by cell: 1,656 checks on the example file and 167 on the blank file, then 98 test cases (hand-built quotes and seasons plus random ones) with 0 failures. It also broke formulas on purpose to make sure the checks catch it.
How it's made
Formulas, layout and copy were created by Orvian Market with AI-assisted drafting, and every formula is tested as described here. Rates, clearing speeds and depth multipliers in the files are examples, not typical or average figures. This is a pricing and planning tool, not accounting, tax, legal or professional advice.

Questions
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. It's a regular .xlsx file with standard formulas and no macros. Open it in Excel 2016 or newer, or in Google Sheets use File → Import → Upload.
Can I change the snow depth tiers?
Yes. The tiers and their time multipliers are an editable table on Settings.
What if my contract covers only some events?
Type how many events it covers on Season Compare. Extra events are billed at your per-push price.
Are card fees counted on seasonal contracts?
Yes. On Settings, choose whether contracts are paid by card or by cash or check. With card, the Season P&L charges the card fee on every contract payment.
Does it predict how much snow we'll get?
No. The low, normal and high event counts are numbers you type, for example from your own past seasons. The file uses no weather or snowfall data.
How do I get the files, and what if it's not right for me?
Checkout is on Gumroad and the download link arrives right away by email. If a file won't open or isn't what you expected, reply to your Gumroad receipt within 14 days and we'll fix it or refund you.
